Romance aboard a chartered sailboat in the crystal clear waters of the BVI |
Amorous adventures await those willing to escape to the British Virgin Islands, "The Yachting Capital of the World", for a vacation about a chartered sail boat. My husband and I shared a 74' ketch rig with two other couples and headed out for 7 days of sailing, snorkeling, sunbathing and partying. Chartering a sailboat is probably not the cheapest vacation you'll ever take, but once in a while it's time to splurge on yourself and spend a special time together. We flew from Orlando to San Juan, PR then took an island hop over to the island of Tortola. We stayed the night in a luxurious villa overlooking the Sir Frances Drake Channel where we could gaze out on the adventure that would be ours in the next few days. We boarded the Endless Summer II and left from the Nanny Cay Marina on Sunday for a two hour sail across the channel where we would anchor for the remainder of the day. That day was like many more to follow. We snorkeled for hours in the clear water gazing at the sea creatures that were as curious about us as we were about them. The crew served us a great dinner and then we hung out under the stars drinking rum punch and listening to the partying around us as many boats had come into the anchorage for the night. The rest of the week brought on many more days of exploring these beautiful Caribbean Islands. First, Virgin Gorda, then a long sail to Anegada, a remote coral island boasting mile after mile of white sandy beach and a fine freshly caught lobster lunch. Then on to Guana Island, Foxy's Bar in Jost Van Dyke, and then one of the most beautiful beaches in the BVI, White Bay, Jost Van Dyke. Around the West End Tortola, then up the Sir Francis Drake channel for a last snorkel at the Caves on Norman Island. And lastly a visit to the William Thornton floating bar (known locally as the Willy T) providing the atmosphere for a final fling. Banquets of great food, plenty of sunshine, sparkling blue water along with the "spirits" of the islands made for a great romantic week that would bring back the zest for any couple. 1-800-368-9905 http://www.endlesssummer.com |
